Year For God is a missions training programme which has two intakes a year and is run from YWAM Derby, England. We partner with other Youth With A Mission centres and workers in Asia (India & Indonesia), Africa (Uganda) and Eastern Europe (Ukraine). We are Christians committed to knowing God and making Him known thoughout the whole world. Our particular vision is to see young people inspired to long-term cross-cultural mission and to see expressions of church planted in every nation and culture. YFG has a long and fruitful history of inspiring young people into continued missions work following the programme. Either full or part time, locally or globally. It has been and still is a springboard for many young people into a lifetime of missions.
YWAM stands for Youth With A Mission and is an international volunteer movement of Christians from many backgrounds, cultures and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world.
The purpose of YWAM is simply:
TO KNOW GOD AND TO MAKE HIM KNOWN
Since the founding of YWAM in 1960 by Loren Cunningham, thousands have been involved worldwide in fulfilling Christ’s command to ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature’. Mark 16:15 (NET)
YWAM Embraces three methods of action – ways God has given us to be part of the goal of taking the gospel to the entire world:
- Evangelism – Preaching the Gospel
- Training – Preparing workers to reach others
- Mercy Ministries – Showing God’s love through practical help
We are currently operating in more than 1000 locations in over 150 countries, with a staff of over 16,000. You can find out more about YWAM international at www.ywam.org or YWAM England at www.ywamengland.org
Year For God began in 1991 when we sent teams to Bolivia, Uganda, and Estonia. Since then YFG has run in 15 countries around the world – Bolivia, Estonia, Brazil, Albania, Kazakhstan, Argentina, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Ukraine, Costa Rica, Poland, Uganda, Tanzania and Singapore. Year for God is based in YWAM Derby where the orientation and de-brief weeks are held. The heart beat of YFG has always been reaching out to the ends of the earth, and as we prayed about the branding of the programme the Scripture that we got again was Mark 16:15. We believe that the Lord wants us to continue reaching out to the ends of the earth, through YFG, and that there is so much more to come as we keep our eyes on the task that Jesus set before us of working towards the completion of the Great Commission.
